Very cheap car insurance is something that any motorist dreams of. I have shot a video to show you how I get the cheapest car insurance possible for my family and friends (and how you can too).
It is quite possible to knock £50+ off the cheapest possible insurance quote you will find and which will probably equate to more than £100 off your renewal quote turning it from a nasty surprise into feeling you have got one up on the insurance companies.
Finding very cheap car insurance is a two stage process. We first use a combination of the insurance comparison websites and cashback sites to generate a shortlist and earn cashback at the same time. We then use the shortlisted companies to do a more detailed quote and get further cashback when we take out the policy.
Very Cheap Care Insurance – Stage 1
Firstly you need to sign up to a cashback site. Cashback sites are great because you get money back for things that you were already going to purchase. All you do is visit the website that you intend to purchase your goods via the link from the cashback site and they give you cashback either in the form of a fixed amount or a percentage. This money comes to you rather than third party affiliates.
My favourite cashback site is topcashback. They have proved to be very reliable and have a vast selection of retailers and merchants… and it is free. (Plus it helps us engineer very cheap car insurance).
OK, so once you have signed up you will need to delete the cookies from your computer. Now I use some free software call CCleaner but you can just delete the cookies from your browser.
For Internet Explorer go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Delete (under Browsing History) -> Delete (Make sure that cookies are ticked).
For Chrome click the spanner at the far right and go to Options -> Under The Bonnet -> Clear Browsing Data -> Clear Browsing Data (ensuring cookies are ticked and you change the period).
For Firefox click Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> clear your recent history ->adjust the period and ensure cookies are selected -> Clear Now.
I find that CCleaner is more efficient but it is up to you.
Now go back to the cashback site and login in. Search “Gocompare”. You will see a link for Car Insurance Cashback. At the time of writing (07/4/2011) they will pay you £1.76 just for doing a quote that you were going to do anyway! That makes answering those questions seem a little easier.
You will also notice that you can get cashback for other types of insurance. This process works just as well for other insurance as it does for very cheap car insurance.
Make sure that you are signed into the site when you visit the site. Now complete the questions and get a quote and make a note of the 5 cheapest.
Now go back to the cashback site and search “compare the market” and click through the link. At the time of writing (07/4/2011) they will pay you 50p again just for doing a quote that you were going to do anyway!
Complete the a new quotation and write down the 5 cheapest.
Now go back to the cashback site and search “confused” and click through the link. Again, at the time of writing (07/4/2011) they will pay you 50p for creating a quote.
Write down your 5 cheapest quotes.
(If you were being thorough you would also check money supermarket although they aren’t offering cashback for a quote at the moment)
Now you will have 15 quotes, some from the same companies, and all at differing amounts. You will notice that 3 or 4 companies keep cropping up. Now depending on how much time you have select up to 5 companies were you are going to get quotes from their website. I usually check 3.
(You will always have to click through to their actual websites because the comparison sites always make a number of assumptions and that is why they often differ from each other and the final quote that you get)
Very Cheap Car Insurance – Stage 2
Now before you click through to visit the site go back a delete your cookies again (in the same process I described above).
Now go back to the cashback site and search for one of your possible cheap insurance companies. You might be surprised at how much cashback they are offering. To give you an example Aviva are offering £50.50 for a new policy at the time of writing. (Hastings £40.40, Sainsbury’s £30.30 and the list goes on).
Click through from the cashback site and complete a new quote. Make a note of the quote and the cashback amount.
Repeat the process above for each of the insurers that you want to check i.e. search for them on the cashback site, click through to their website, complete a new quote and note it down along with the cashback.
Once you have done a few you will be in a position to decide which insurance company you want to go with. This is how you secure your very cheap car insurance. (It is important to complete the quote online otherwise you won’t receive the cashback).
The disadvantage is that you have to wait about 3 months to receive your cashback but for a little work up front you should be able to secure very very cheap car insurance.
